About the Author

Louise Courey Nadeau, born and raised in Montreal, Canada, wife and mother to two girls and two boys is the creator and author of Magelica’s Voyage, Magelica’s Voyage: The Rescue and Magelica’s Voyage to the Land of the Fairies; an adventure/fantasy trilogy about a young girl on Earth who suddenly grows wings at the age of 12 and sets out on a voyage to discover who she is and where she comes from. Empowered by her Chosen Mother to follow her heart, Magelica and her fun and wacky friends learn that following your dreams is no easy task! Called upon to connect peoples and worlds, and bring balance and harmony, Magelica discovers that the greatest enemy is fear, but realizes that it is no match for courage, believing in herself, and love, the most powerful magic of all.

Author, mother, wife, Founder and CEO of Magelica Inc., former marketing and advertising executive, a tireless fundraiser for many charities, a painter, and gardener, Louise’s passions keep growing. Louise’s dream is to create a bond with children and their caregivers around the globe, and make a real difference by entertaining them with exciting stories that stimulate their imagination, and help them discover the power of their own magic. Books are just the beginning. She is simply getting started!

“Through life’s trials and tribulations, I always believed I could. With the Magelica book series, my own beliefs, courage, determination and resolve have been tested over and over. Believing I can, has kept me going! My goal is for young girls to be empowered to grow up strong, positive and powerful, and for young boys to have the self-confidence to support girls in their goals, thereby creating a new gender balance for a new generation. “The children of today, will grow up to be the parents of tomorrow. By inspiring them now, the ripple effect will eventually change the world.”

“Magelica’s Voyage is inspired by my life, my family, and the special people and places I love”, says Courey Nadeau. “All of the characters in the story, including Magelica are reflections of the person I am- the wacky part, the funny part, the philosopher, the teacher, the caretaker, the chosen mom, the giver, and of course the dreamer. What would Magelica do, I often ask, and I get the answer. When you fly with Magelica, the possibilities are endless and there is magic all around.”

Illustrating #wishIcoulddraw #writinglife

I’ve hit a stumbling block in publishing my next book…It needs black and white illustrations. I know I could go without, but I really want by book to be perfect. The problem is, well I can’t draw. Okay so I don’t belive in the work can’t, but I don’t find drawing a natural ability. I have to be more creative.

I guess it is like anything, practice makes perfect. Not that I ever expect my illustrations to be perfect. I am investigating a few options at the moment, but I am also trying to get one picture per chapter that I am really happy with.

This is a challenge that I have overcome before and am determined to work out this time too. The issue is I have five stories in this series and another series that will need similar formatting. That means a lot of drawing and it all takes time. I am the patient with my writing, but I also want to get my books out there. I better get back to it…

Have fun!

Writing Buddies Workshop #amwriting @dogshelp

Wow it was a week ago that I ran my Writing Buddies Workshop at the local library. Clearly time has not been on my side over the last week. Anyway here is the wrap up…

There were quite a few people who attended. We had a great time chatting about writing and how to get ideas. I handed out some templates I use in my writing journals and the stories began to flow. The children who attended came up with some amazing ideas. While we chatted my two writing Buddies were on their best behaviour. Stitch managed to get tummy rubs from everyone. He’s not subtle at all, just finds a person and rolls on to his back to get a rub. Such a big soft teddy bear.
Chewie – well for a real goofball he is amazing when he needs to be. He can be very sweet and loves to wave at everyone. He was very good.

The boys were paid for their efforts…in icecream! Well done boys!

Overall it was a great success. The library was happy with the turn out and I managed to sell a few books as well. It was lots of fun and a great way to get my books out to the public. Not to mention a chance to connect with kids who love to write. Here’s to the next event…

Now I need to get back to work – have fun!

Stitch Says Book Review: Twisted Fate #Bookreview

Hi, Stitch here:

Today I have a great book for you…

Twisted Fate by Simon Rose

Max was always told his mother jumped in front of a train, but on his fifteenth birthday he receives a box of her belongings. Suddenly he starts having dreams and visions. Is it possible she was pushed? Could he prevent the whole thing from happening and change his life? Twisted Fate is a tale full of time shifts, paranormal and nonstop adventure.
I will admit I am hesitant to rate time travel books highly. They are often confusing or far too easy to pull apart. However I have now read a few of Simon’s books and have to say he does time travel well. Once again he has produced a book full of action that is believable and easy to follow. Twisted Fate is a great read.
Stitch Says gives it 4 woofs!
