I Did It #Chaboocha #amwriting

Super Stitch color

Super Stitch, Champion Chewie, Captain Obi, Lighting Lilly and Princess Seea now have a fourth adventure. It’s raw, the ideas even changed a bit through the story, but the first draft is done!

That’s why I love the chapter book challenge group so much!

It makes me write. This year I have written four drafts over two months. they are nowhere near publishing, but they are down and that means I have something to work with. The cool thing about this year is I have focused on a series. So I have actually watched my characters grow across stories. This will be awesome now as I start to edit them. I have a clear picture in my mind about each character and the story line. I am also hoping that more ideas will come as I begin to edit.

In other news I have also been editing last year’s chapter book. This is the sequel to Obi the Super Puppy and the Mystery of the Red Mist. I now have one more run through and then it is off to the editor! I am also working on the formatting of It’s What You Do Next That Counts. My husband is working on the cover. It’s all starting to come together. Watch this space for more exciting news soon – have fun!

The Buzz

“Who knew geography and learning about animals could be this much fun? Lobo Goes to the Galapagos is my new favorite children’s book and is highly recommended. ” ~ Jack Magnus, Readers’ Favorite

“While Ms, Murphy’s uniquely whimsical and vibrant illustrative style is perfectly suited for the wild, tropical feel of this colorful book, and easily captures young readers’ attention, there is also a subtle, quiet beauty to the storyline’s overarching themes of friendship, trust, perseverance, and goodwill. Lobo’s tenacious and giving spirit are delightfully captured in this fifth installment of puppy-fueled fun. In fact, it’s sincerely so easy to fall in love with “Lovable” Lobo that I’d happily follow this well-meaning, big-hearted, wolf pup to the very ends of the earth!” ~ 5 Star Review, Indie Author Girl, Amazon

“What an adorable story! I read this to my nephew and he couldn’t stop giggling at the silliness of Roxy as well as Lobo’s cute friends Bobby, Sunny, Coconut and Sandra. The author was very clever in portraying a tale of friendship, adventure and excitement that is sure to enthuse young minds around the world.” ~ 5 Star Review, Gina D., Amazon

Birthday gift was a tall order #bestday #MonartoZoo

I had to wait a week for my birthday gift, but it was worth it. We went up to Monarto Zoo, one of my favourite places in the world. The day started with a visit to the Meerkats.

They are always so much fun, not to mention awesome to write about. Which gives me another story idea… better finish the current ones first.

However back to the birthday. The kids shouted me a chance to go on a giraffe safari! Which means we were taken out to the back fields and fed the male giraffes!

giraffe 2

The bucket of carrots didn’t last very long and they could only just reach the kids. These boys love their carrots though and were super gentle.

giraffe 3

It was an amazing experience, one I would do again. The kids loved it even if they did get their hands covered in giraffe slobber!

I could have stood there and watched them all day. I love giraffes, they are so calm. It was certainly just what we all needed after the last few crazy weeks. Sometimes it is worth taking a leaf out of a giraffe’s life. Just lope along and go at your own pace, nothing to worry about. Sounds like a plan to me – have fun!

Talk like a Pirate #ChaBooCha #childrensauthors

It’s international talk like a pirate day… why??? Well aye who knows, arrrgh!!!

Anyway it’s a good excuse to update you on some books. I am so excited to have been a part of the Chapter Book Challenge over the last two years. It’s been awesome because in that time I have written the first drafts of four and a half books – yes I am half way through this months… lots to go. I haven’t had any of those books published yet – although the sequel to Obi should be read for my editor in the next two weeks (finders or paws crossed). However during this time I have had nine stories published in five different anthologies.

That’s pretty cool. The latest two have just been release, check these out:

Teapot Tales 2

In this one I have a pirate story and a mermaid story, plus illustrations!

In this one I have a story about a ghost train and one about Obi!!!! Pretty cool, oh and another two illustrations.

I would like to thank the amazing Becky Fyfe for all her work in editing and putting together these anthologies. It’s so much fun to be a part of and a great way to keep your writing ticking over. I recommend joining the chapter book challenge!

Writer’s Reveal – Dreams #thingsgobumpinthenight

This month’s topic comes from Becky and its dreams. So much comes to mind, but the first has to be…

2014-01-10 14.37.56

They are the coolest thing out. The boys run in their sleep, they squeak and even bark at times. I love the way they are so out to it all that they relive the day. Well that’s what I think they do; either that or they are hunting their favourite treat… It hardly matters, they dream and it’s so cute.

There are other dreams though.
My girls love scary stories. We often watch Grimm Tales or Scooby Doo before bed. They also enjoy having a story and it never bothers them if it’s scary. Why?

Yep their teddy bears have super powers; nothing can scare you in the night if you have a teddy or five to keep you safe.

The next type of dream is really important to me…
I spend a great deal of time doing this. Some of my best writing ideas have come from day dreams. They are actually quite useful. Especially if you can actually get them down on paper. I think daydreaming, well any sort of dreaming is a great way to keep the imagination flowing. So chase those dreams, good or bad they can always be amazing.

Lastly I guess our dreams can also be goals for the future. I have lots of those dreams. One has come true each time I have published a book or had a story published. There are many more dreams for me to chase. These dreams can shape our lives. Some of my current dreams are:
1. To set up my own self publishing hobby – more news soon.
2. To self publish my fourth book – before the end of the year
3. To get my first ChaBooCha story published – early next year

I also have dreams for other parts of my life too, all in good time. To check out the other Writer’s Reveal posts on dreams go to:

Have a read and start some new dreams – have fun!

Stitch here with another review. this one has lots of scary characters

Stud Muffin Stitch

By Aiden Storm

I found the prologue a bit heavy going, however once the story started it became easier to read. Jack falls though a painting and finds himself in a magical world. Here he meets Jasya and finds himself in a quest to help her get home. This means fighting the evil Lycanthor – a giant werewolf. The characters in this book are engaging and it is packed full of adventure. This story would appeal to boys and girls, who I have no doubt will be eagerly awaiting the next instalment.

Until next time keep reading, keep writing!
