So we took twenty eight Labradors to the Royal Adelaide Show last week and had at least twenty students showing their dogs. Chaos – yes, but really good fun. The students dressed in their best and did us all proud. The dogs also did their part. We had some placings – Little Reyne and her brother Blair came second each in the puppy class. Tramp and my Little Man Stitch both places in Junior (Tramp – second, Stitch fourth), Sequoia and Mack the same in Aus Bred. Tasia third in Junior as well. Mick and Scorcha also placed int heir classes. Finally the day finished with the Breeders team. Our students named their team Big Rig’s Fantasy Crew as they proudly showed Cavajal OutRigger, Cavajal Lab Corps Steam Boat (Tug), Cavajal Fantasia (Tasia) and Cavajal Stitch. They were all very nervous, but did a brilliant job and finished fourth. Even better the dogs didn’t try to eat the sausage dog team. A great effort by the students.
I would like to make a special mention to our International Judge for the day – Mr Michael Forte from Ireland. Who was so impressed with our students and how they presented themselves and their dogs that he kindly donated $50 for Labs ‘n Life to purchase a trophy for next years show. Amazing and throughout the day he was so patient and calm, making the whole experience for the students a lot less stressful. He shook the hands of each member of our team and congratulated them on their efforts – a moment they will never forget – so again thank you for your kindness and support.
It was worth the effort – our students and dogs did us all proud as we knew they would, so bring on next year when we get to do it all again!!!
